Zee Entertainment Announces Appointment of Ali Zaidi as Territory Head – Mena

Zee Entertainment promoted Ali Zaidi to the role of Territory Head – MENA, reinforcing the company’s strategy to expand its presence across the Middle East and North Africa. In his expanded role, Zaidi will lead Zee5 Global’s growth strategy across the region, with a focus on strengthening the platform’s presence in GCC markets. He will oversee the growth of Zee’s South Asian entertainment portfolio, including Zee TV and Zee Cinema, while also driving the expansion of the company’s FAST channel offerings. Zaidi will continue to lead the development of Zee’s Arabic entertainment brands, Zee Alwan and Zee Aflam, alongside efforts to scale the company’s co-production initiatives across the region. As part of Zee5 Global’s evolving content strategy, the platform has also integrated Weyyak’s content library, further expanding its Arabic-language entertainment offering and strengthening its commitment to delivering culturally relevant programming for audiences across the MENA region. Under Zaidi’s leadership, Zee aimed to accelerate regional growth by expanding Zee5’s subscriber base and positioning the streaming platform as a leading destination for both South Asian and Arabic entertainment across GCC markets. Zaidi brought more than 28 years of experience in broadcast and digital media to the position. During his tenure as Business Head of ZEE’s English Cluster, he led Zee Cafe and Zee Studio, where he introduced the “Uncut” initiative, offering Indian audiences uncensored Hollywood content, including the exclusive Indian premiere of House of Cards. Most recently, he served as Chief Strategy Sales Officer for Zee’s North Branch and Hindi-speaking markets (HSM) cluster, managing a portfolio worth approximately $650m and leading a team of more than 100 professionals across linear and digital revenue operations. In that role, he also secured partnerships with major global brands including Reckitt, Pepsi, Nestlé and Coca-Cola.
