We wouldn't blame Verisk Analytics, Inc. (NASDAQ:VRSK) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that David Wright, the Independent Director recently netted about US$732k selling shares at an average price of US$183. That's a big disposal, and it decreased their holding size by 29%, which is notable but not too bad.

Verisk Analytics Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Lead Independent Director, Christopher Foskett, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$833k worth of shares at a price of US$174 each. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$185). We generally consider it a negative if insiders have been selling, especially if they did so below the current price, because it implies that they considered a lower price to be reasonable. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. We note that the biggest single sale was only 16% of Christopher Foskett's holding.
