Recent News & Updates
Energy Compounds, Robotaxi Arrives Late, And The Discount Rate Does The Damage
Start from the trough Q2 2026 is the baseline: record revenue of $28.24bn and record deliveries of 480,126, but operating income down 57% to $398m, a 1.4% operating margin, negative free cash flow for the quarter, and $0.33 adjusted EPS against ~$0.53 expected. On a trailing basis Tesla now runs a 4.13% operating margin and a 3.67% profit margin, with $18.69bn of operating cash flow against $12.92bn of capex ($5.76bn of free cash flow) and a net cash position of $27.44bn.Tesla: It's Worse Than I Thought (Rating Downgrade)
Summary Tesla, Inc. has sold off by ~24.5% in just 1 month. I expect the selloff to continue because of the bad news TSLA has just shared. Robotaxi expansion is stagnating, with limited geographic reach and a significant lag behind Waymo's autonomous mileage. Valuation remains unjustifiably high given modest growth, eroding profitability, and even worse credibility of Elon Musk. I don't believe TSLA will deliver on its new initiatives in a way sufficient to justify its much too high valuation multiples.
