We'd be surprised if GRAIL, Inc. (NASDAQ:GRAL) shareholders haven't noticed that the CEO & Director, Robert Ragusa, recently sold US$238k worth of stock at US$31.21 per share. However, the silver lining is that the sale only reduced their total holding by 6.3%, so we're hesitant to read anything much into it, on its own.

GRAIL Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In fact, the recent sale by CEO & Director Robert Ragusa was not their only sale of GRAIL shares this year. They previously made an even bigger sale of -US$1.7m worth of shares at a price of US$14.02 per share. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (US$29.74). As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. While insider selling is not a positive sign, we can't be sure if it does mean insiders think the shares are fully valued, so it's only a weak sign. We note that the biggest single sale was 51% of Robert Ragusa's holding.
