Insiders were net buyers of ConnectOne Bancorp, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:CNOB ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders bought more stock than they sold.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At ConnectOne Bancorp

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Lead Independent Director Stephen Boswell for US$152k worth of shares, at about US$18.95 per share. Even though the purchase was made at a significantly lower price than the recent price (US$24.94), we still think insider buying is a positive. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
