A new report by Vaisala Xweather has shed light on how various weather conditions affect electric vehicle (EV) range across the United States. While the impact of cold temperatures on EV performance is widely recognized, the report reveals additional factors such as altitude, snow, rain, and in-car climate control that also significantly influence range. Contrary to popular belief, California, despite its high EV adoption rate, does not offer the most favorable conditions for long-range driving due to summer heat and wind. The report, which features data from March 2024 to February 2025, highlights state-specific impacts, with Arizona leading in favorable conditions due to its warm weather and lower air density, whereas cold spells have considerably reduced range in states like North Dakota and New England. This comprehensive evaluation underscores the complexity of weather's effects on EV range, advocating for the use of precise weather data to optimize driving efficiency.

In other trading, Lucid Group (NasdaqGS:LCID) was a standout up 8.8% and closing at $2.35. In the meantime, XPeng (NYSE:XPEV) softened, down 7.8% to close at $22.64. On March 18, the company announced first-quarter guidance with expected vehicle deliveries increasing by over 300% year-over-year.
