Shareholders May Not Overlook Addnode Group Insiders Selling kr182m In Stock
Addnode Group AB (publ)'s (STO:ANOD B) stock rose 11% last week, but insiders who sold kr182m worth of stock over the last year are probably in a more advantageous position. Selling at an average price of kr121, which is higher than the current price, may have been the best move for these insiders because their investment would have been worth less now than when they sold.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.
Addnode Group Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The Chairman, Staffan Hanstorp, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for kr182m worth of shares at a price of kr121 each. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of kr103. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price. Staffan Hanstorp was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.
In the last twelve months insiders purchased 6.90k shares for kr677k. But they sold 1.50m shares for kr182m. Addnode Group Insiders Bought Stock Recently
There was some insider buying at Addnode Group over the last quarter. President Johan Andersson bought kr427k worth of shares in that time. We like it when there are only buyers, and no sellers. But the amount invested in the last three months isn't enough for us too put much weight on it, as a single factor.
Insider Ownership
Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It appears that Addnode Group insiders own 3.7% of the company, worth about kr509m. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.

So What Does This Data Suggest About Addnode Group Insiders?
It is good to see the recent insider purchase. On the other hand the transaction history, over the last year, isn't so positive. The high levels of insider ownership, and the recent buying by an insider suggests they are well aligned and optimistic. Of course, the future is what matters most.
