Possible Bearish Signals With Bergman & Beving Insiders Disposing Stock

Quite a few Bergman & Beving AB (publ) (STO:BERG B) insiders sold their shares over the past year, which may be a cause for concern. When analyzing insider transactions, it is usually more valuable to know whether insiders are buying versus knowing if they are selling, as the latter sends an ambiguous message. However, if numerous insiders are selling, shareholders should investigate more.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Division Head of Core Solutions, Mats Gullbrandsson, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for kr4.4m worth of shares at a price of kr291 each. That means that even when the share price was slightly below the current price of kr295, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. We generally consider it a negative if insiders have been selling, especially if they did so below the current price, because it implies that they considered a lower price to be reasonable. We note that the biggest single sale was 67% of Mats Gullbrandsson's holding.
