UJU Electronics (KOSDAQ:065680) Shareholders Have Enjoyed An Impressive 298% Share Price Gain
Unless you borrow money to invest, the potential losses are limited. On the other hand, if you find a high quality business to buy (at the right price) you can more than double your money! For example, the UJU Electronics Co. Ltd (KOSDAQ:065680) share price had more than doubled in just one year - up 298%. Also pleasing for shareholders was the 21% gain in the last three months. But this move may well have been assisted by the reasonably buoyant market (up 9.5% in 90 days). And shareholders have also done well over the long term, with an increase of 125% in the last three years.

To quote Buffett, 'Ships will sail around the world but the Flat Earth Society will flourish. There will continue to be wide discrepancies between price and value in the marketplace...' One flawed but reasonable way to assess how sentiment around a company has changed is to compare the earnings per share (EPS) with the share price.
During the last year UJU Electronics grew its earnings per share (EPS) by 36%. This EPS growth is significantly lower than the 298% increase in the share price. So it's fair to assume the market has a higher opinion of the business than it a year ago.
The graphic below depicts how EPS has changed over time (unveil the exact values by clicking on the image).

What About Dividends?
When looking at investment returns, it is important to consider the difference between total shareholder return (TSR) and share price return. The TSR is a return calculation that accounts for the value of cash dividends (assuming that any dividend received was reinvested) and the calculated value of any discounted capital raisings and spin-offs. So for companies that pay a generous dividend, the TSR is often a lot higher than the share price return. In the case of UJU Electronics, it has a TSR of 313% for the last year. That exceeds its share price return that we previously mentioned. The dividends paid by the company have thusly boosted the total shareholder return.
A Different Perspective
We're pleased to report that UJU Electronics shareholders have received a total shareholder return of 313% over one year. Of course, that includes the dividend. Since the one-year TSR is better than the five-year TSR (the latter coming in at 17% per year), it would seem that the stock's performance has improved in recent times. In the best case scenario, this may hint at some real business momentum, implying that now could be a great time to delve deeper. While it is well worth considering the different impacts that market conditions can have on the share price, there are other factors that are even more important. Like risks, for instance. Every company has them, and we've spotted 2 warning signs for UJU Electronics (of which 1 doesn't sit too well with us!) you should know about.
