Analog Devices Insiders Sold US$8.5m Of Shares Suggesting Hesitancy
In the last year, many Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADI) insiders sold a substantial stake in the company which may have sparked shareholders' attention. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more beneficial than knowing whether they are selling, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, shareholders should take a deeper look if several insiders are selling stock over a specific time period.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Analog Devices Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
The Executive VP & President of Business Units, Gregory Bryant, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$4.1m worth of shares at a price of US$234 each. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of US$224. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it's not too bad (but it's still not a positive).
In the last year Analog Devices insiders didn't buy any company stock. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. If you click on the chart, you can see all the individual transactions, including the share price, individual, and the date!

Does Analog Devices Boast High Insider Ownership?
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Analog Devices insiders own about US$429m worth of shares (which is 0.4% of the company). This kind of significant ownership by insiders does generally increase the chance that the company is run in the interest of all shareholders.
