Insiders who purchased S$750.0k worth of CytoMed Therapeutics Limited (NASDAQ:GDTC) shares over the past year recouped some of their losses after price gained 12% last week. However, the purchase is proving to be a costly gamble, since losses made by insiders have totalled S$279k since the time of purchase.

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

CytoMed Therapeutics Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Executive Chairman Chee Kong Choo bought US$750k worth of shares at a price of US$4.00 per share. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$2.51). Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when an insider has purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Chee Kong Choo.
