Omnicom Group Insiders Sell US$15m Of Stock, Possibly Signalling Caution
In the last year, many Omnicom Group Inc. (NYSE:OMC) insiders sold a substantial stake in the company which may have sparked shareholders' attention. When evaluating insider transactions, knowing whether insiders are buying versus if they selling is usually more beneficial, as the latter can be open to many interpretations. However, when multiple insiders sell stock over a specific duration, shareholders should take notice as that could possibly be a red flag.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the Chairman & CEO, John Wren, for US$9.4m worth of shares, at about US$93.84 per share. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The good news is that this large sale was at well above current price of US$74.55. So it may not tell us anything about how insiders feel about the current share price.
