This Embecta Insider Increased Their Holding By 20% Last Year
Viewing insider transactions for Embecta Corp.'s (NASDAQ:EMBC ) over the last year, we see that insiders were net buyers. This means that a larger number of shares were purchased by insiders in relation to shares sold.
While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Embecta
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Non-Executive Chairman David Melcher bought US$178k worth of shares at a price of US$13.67 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than US$12.28 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock when an insider has bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price. David Melcher was the only individual insider to buy shares in the last twelve months.
David Melcher purchased 23.00k shares over the year. The average price per share was US$12.33. Insider Ownership Of Embecta
For a common shareholder, it is worth checking how many shares are held by company insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It appears that Embecta insiders own 2.0% of the company, worth about US$12m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
