With EPS Growth And More, Crocs (NASDAQ:CROX) Makes An Interesting Case
It's common for many investors, especially those who are inexperienced, to buy shares in companies with a good story even if these companies are loss-making. Unfortunately, these high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, so investors in these companies may be taking on more risk than they should.
If this kind of company isn't your style, you like companies that generate revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in Crocs (NASDAQ:CROX). While this doesn't necessarily speak to whether it's undervalued, the profitability of the business is enough to warrant some appreciation - especially if its growing.

How Fast Is Crocs Growing Its Earnings Per Share?
In the last three years Crocs' earnings per share took off; so much so that it's a bit disingenuous to use these figures to try and deduce long term estimates. Thus, it makes sense to focus on more recent growth rates, instead. It's good to see that Crocs' EPS has grown from US$9.22 to US$11.17 over twelve months. That's a 21% gain; respectable growth in the broader scheme of things.
It's often helpful to take a look at earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins, as well as revenue growth, to get another take on the quality of the company's growth. While we note Crocs achieved similar EBIT margins to last year, revenue grew by a solid 23% to US$3.9b. That's progress.

Are Crocs Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Since Crocs has a market capitalisation of US$5.7b, we wouldn't expect insiders to hold a large percentage of shares. But thanks to their investment in the company, it's pleasing to see that there are still incentives to align their actions with the shareholders. We note that their impressive stake in the company is worth US$185m. Investors will appreciate management having this amount of skin in the game as it shows their commitment to the company's future.
