Chief Commercial Officer Ingrid Bojner Just Bought 5.9% More Shares In Storytel AB (publ) (STO:STORY B)
Even if it's not a huge purchase, we think it was good to see that Ingrid Bojner, the Chief Commercial Officer of Storytel AB (publ) (STO:STORY B) recently shelled out kr395k to buy stock, at kr219 per share. However, it only increased their shares held by 5.9%, and it wasn't a huge purchase by absolute value, either.

Storytel Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Rustan Panday, sold kr39m worth of shares at a price of kr196 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of kr219, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. We note that the biggest single sale was only 9.0% of Rustan Panday's holding.
Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid kr24m for 132.25k shares. On the other hand they divested 463.00k shares, for kr85m. Over the last year we saw more insider selling of Storytel shares, than buying. The sellers received a price of around kr184, on average. We don't gain confidence from insider selling below the recent share price. Of course, the sales could be motivated for a multitude of reasons, so we shouldn't jump to conclusions. Insider Ownership of Storytel
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Storytel insiders own 20% of the company, currently worth about kr2.8b based on the recent share price. Most shareholders would be happy to see this sort of insider ownership, since it suggests that management incentives are well aligned with other shareholders.
What Might The Insider Transactions At Storytel Tell Us?
It's certainly positive to see the recent insider purchases. However, the longer term transactions are not so encouraging. Overall, we'd prefer see a more sustained buying from directors, but with a significant insider holding and more recent purchases, Storytel insiders are reasonably well aligned, and optimistic for the future. Of course, the future is what matters most. So if you are interested in Storytel, you should check out this free report on analyst forecasts for the company.
