We Ran A Stock Scan For Earnings Growth And Logintrade (WSE:LGT) Passed With Ease
For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it currently lacks a track record of revenue and profit. Unfortunately, these high risk investments often have little probability of ever paying off, and many investors pay a price to learn their lesson. Loss making companies can act like a sponge for capital - so investors should be cautious that they're not throwing good money after bad.
Despite being in the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, many investors still adopt a more traditional strategy; buying shares in profitable companies like Logintrade (WSE:LGT). While profit isn't the sole metric that should be considered when investing, it's worth recognising businesses that can consistently produce it.
Logintrade's Improving Profits
Logintrade has undergone a massive growth in earnings per share over the last three years. So much so that this three year growth rate wouldn't be a fair assessment of the company's future. Thus, it makes sense to focus on more recent growth rates, instead. Logintrade's EPS skyrocketed from zł0.22 to zł0.32, in just one year; a result that's bound to bring a smile to shareholders. That's a impressive gain of 47%.
One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. On the revenue front, Logintrade has done well over the past year, growing revenue by 5.8% to zł9.9m but EBIT margin figures were less stellar, seeing a decline over the last 12 months. So if EBIT margins can stabilize, this top-line growth should pay off for shareholders.

Since Logintrade is no giant, with a market capitalisation of zł16m, you should definitely check its cash and debt before getting too excited about its prospects.
Are Logintrade Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
Theory would suggest that it's an encouraging sign to see high insider ownership of a company, since it ties company performance directly to the financial success of its management. So as you can imagine, the fact that Logintrade insiders own a significant number of shares certainly is appealing. To be exact, company insiders hold 63% of the company, so their decisions have a significant impact on their investments. This makes it apparent they will be incentivised to plan for the long term - a positive for shareholders with a sit and hold strategy. Of course, Logintrade is a very small company, with a market cap of only zł16m. So despite a large proportional holding, insiders only have zł9.8m worth of stock. This isn't an overly large holding but it should still keep the insiders motivated to deliver the best outcomes for shareholders.
Is Logintrade Worth Keeping An Eye On?
You can't deny that Logintrade has grown its earnings per share at a very impressive rate. That's attractive. This EPS growth rate is something the company should be proud of, and so it's no surprise that insiders are holding on to a considerable chunk of shares. Fast growth and confident insiders should be enough to warrant further research, so it would seem that it's a good stock to follow. You still need to take note of risks, for example - Logintrade has 4 warning signs (and 3 which shouldn't be ignored) we think you should know about.
There's always the possibility of doing well buying stocks that are not growing earnings and do not have insiders buying shares. But for those who consider these important metrics, we encourage you to check out companies that do have those features.
