Is Alm. Brand A/S' (CPH:ALMB) Stock On A Downtrend As A Result Of Its Poor Financials?

It is hard to get excited after looking at Alm. Brand's (CPH:ALMB) recent performance, when its stock has declined 6.4% over the past month. Given that stock prices are usually driven by a company’s fundamentals over the long term, which in this case look pretty weak, we decided to study the company's key financial indicators. We now need to evaluate how much profit the company reinvests or "retains" for future growth which then gives us an idea about the growth potential of the company. Generally speaking, other things being equal, firms with a high return on equity and profit retention, have a higher growth rate than firms that don’t share these attributes.

Alm. Brand's Earnings Growth And 5.1% ROE

At first glance, Alm. Brand's ROE doesn't look very promising. We then compared the company's ROE to the broader industry and were disappointed to see that the ROE is lower than the industry average of 12%. Given the circumstances, the significant decline in net income by 7.6% seen by Alm. Brand over the last five years is not surprising. We reckon that there could also be other factors at play here. For instance, the company has a very high payout ratio, or is faced with competitive pressures.

Doing so will help them establish if the stock's future looks promising or ominous.
