Real Matters Inc. (TSE:REAL) shareholders might be concerned after seeing the share price drop 28% in the last quarter. But in three years the returns have been great. The share price marched upwards over that time, and is now 133% higher than it was. So the recent fall in the share price should be viewed in that context. The thing to consider is whether the underlying business is doing well enough to support the current price.

To quote Buffett, 'Ships will sail around the world but the Flat Earth Society will flourish. There will continue to be wide discrepancies between price and value in the marketplace...' One imperfect but simple way to consider how the market perception of a company has shifted is to compare the change in the earnings per share (EPS) with the share price movement.

During three years of share price growth, Real Matters moved from a loss to profitability. Given the importance of this milestone, it's not overly surprising that the share price has increased strongly.
