Favourable Signals For Great Western Exploration: Numerous Insiders Acquired Stock
Generally, when a single insider buys stock, it is usually not a big deal. However, when several insiders are buying, like in the case of Great Western Exploration Limited (ASX:GTE), it sends a favourable message to the company's shareholders.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Great Western Exploration Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Non-Executive Director Grey Egerton-Warburton bought AU$300k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.032 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at above the current price of AU$0.03. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. We always take careful note of the price insiders pay when purchasing shares. Generally speaking, it catches our eye when insiders have purchased shares at above current prices, as it suggests they believed the shares were worth buying, even at a higher price.

It appears that Great Western Exploration insiders own 26% of the company, worth about AU$2.7m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
