Qualys, Inc. (NASDAQ:QLYS) shareholders are probably feeling a little disappointed, since its shares fell 3.3% to US$129 in the week after its latest second-quarter results. Revenues were US$164m, approximately in line with whatthe analysts expected, although statutory earnings per share (EPS) crushed expectations, coming in at US$1.29, an impressive 20% ahead of estimates. The analysts typically update their forecasts at each earnings report, and we can judge from their estimates whether their view of the company has changed or if there are any new concerns to be aware of. So we collected the latest post-earnings statutory consensus estimates to see what could be in store for next year.

NasdaqGS:QLYS Earnings and Revenue Growth August 8th 2025

Taking into account the latest results, the most recent consensus for Qualys from 22 analysts is for revenues of US$659.8m in 2025. If met, it would imply a credible 3.6% increase on its revenue over the past 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are expected to reduce 7.2% to US$4.76 in the same period. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$653.3m and earnings per share (EPS) of US$4.58 in 2025. The analysts seems to have become more bullish on the business, judging by their new earnings per share estimates.

There's been no major changes to the consensus price target of US$141, suggesting that the improved earnings per share outlook is not enough to have a long-term positive impact on the stock's valuation. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. There are some variant perceptions on Qualys, with the most bullish analyst valuing it at US$160 and the most bearish at US$97.00 per share. As you can see, analysts are not all in agreement on the stock's future, but the range of estimates is still reasonably narrow, which could suggest that the outcome is not totally unpredictable.

These estimates are interesting, but it can be useful to paint some more broad strokes when seeing how forecasts compare, both to the Qualys' past performance and to peers in the same industry. It's pretty clear that there is an expectation that Qualys' revenue growth will slow down substantially, with revenues to the end of 2025 expected to display 7.3% growth on an annualised basis. This is compared to a historical growth rate of 13% over the past five years. Compare this against other companies (with analyst forecasts) in the industry, which are in aggregate expected to see revenue growth of 13% annually. So it's pretty clear that, while revenue growth is expected to slow down, the wider industry is also expected to grow faster than Qualys.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing here is that the analysts upgraded their earnings per share estimates, suggesting that there has been a clear increase in optimism towards Qualys following these results. On the plus side, there were no major changes to revenue estimates; although forecasts imply they will perform worse than the wider industry. The consensus price target held steady at US$141, with the latest estimates not enough to have an impact on their price targets.

Keeping that in mind, we still think that the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for investors to consider. We have forecasts for Qualys going out to 2027, and you can see them free on our platform here.
