Strategy (MSTR) Is Up 28.2% After Bitcoin Rebounds Above Average Cost Basis - Has The Bull Case Changed?
- In recent days, Strategy Inc., the Bitcoin-focused former MicroStrategy, saw its vast holding of 840,447 BTC swing back to an unrealized profit of about US$1.40 billion as Bitcoin rebounded above its average acquisition price, helped by supportive comments from President Donald Trump and bond-market interventions by the U.S. Treasury.
- The episode underscores how closely Strategy’s investment story is tied to policy signals and Bitcoin’s price, with capital decisions such as pausing new BTC purchases and prioritizing preferred share support becoming as important as its core software roots.
- We’ll now examine how Bitcoin’s sharp rebound, combined with Strategy’s leveraged balance sheet, is influencing the company’s evolving investment narrative.
We've uncovered the 12 dividend fortresses yielding 5%+ that don't just survive market storms, but thrive in them.
What Is Strategy's Investment Narrative?
To own Strategy today, you really have to buy into the idea that this is less a traditional software company and more a leveraged Bitcoin vehicle, where equity value swings with crypto policy and BTC’s spot price. The latest rebound, which flipped its 840,447 BTC stack back to an unrealized profit of about US$1.40 billion and sent the shares sharply higher, reinforces that the immediate catalysts are almost all external: Washington’s regulatory tone, Trump’s pro‑crypto push, and Treasury’s bond buybacks that have brightened risk appetite. Those are material for sentiment, but they do not change the underlying basics: sizeable cumulative losses, a heavy US$22.00 billion capital stack ahead of common, and a pause in new BTC buying as management shores up preferreds and cash. The risk is that the same leverage that excites investors on the way up can cut deeper on the way down.
Yet beneath the rally, one balance‑sheet risk in particular deserves much closer attention from shareholders.

Gold miners still look inexpensive because the market thinks we're near the top of the cycle. Given what's happening to the dollar, I'm not so sure.

Is it a safer bet on gold to have just exposure to ETFs?
Between 2003 and 2011, gold nearly went 5x. Dollar went weak too. The gold companies did bad. It is worth noting that between 2003 and 2011, there was 2008! I will leave it your inference and research.
