Executive Vice President of Engineering & Operations Of SiTime Sold 34% Of Their Shares
Some SiTime Corporation (NASDAQ:SITM) shareholders may be a little concerned to see that the Executive Vice President of Engineering & Operations, Fariborz Assaderaghi, recently sold a substantial US$702k worth of stock at a price of US$234 per share. That's a big disposal, and it decreased their holding size by 34%, which is notable but not too bad.
The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At SiTime
The Chairman, Rajesh Vashist, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$4.2m worth of shares at a price of US$211 each. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of US$235, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. Please do note, however, that sellers may have a variety of reasons for selling, so we don't know for sure what they think of the stock price. It is worth noting that this sale was only 8.4% of Rajesh Vashist's holding.

Does SiTime Boast High Insider Ownership?
Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. SiTime insiders own about US$93m worth of shares. That equates to 1.6% of the company. We've certainly seen higher levels of insider ownership elsewhere, but these holdings are enough to suggest alignment between insiders and the other shareholders.
