FormFactor (FORM) On Strong Earnings And Guidance While Valuation Still Sparks Debate
FormFactor (FORM) is back in the spotlight after reporting second quarter results that were significantly higher than a year earlier, issuing upbeat third quarter guidance, and seeing analysts lift earnings estimates alongside a favorable rating.

FormFactor's recent earnings release, guidance update, and expanded partnership with Keystone Microtech have coincided with sharp share price swings, including a 37.14% 7 day share price return and a 93.34% year to date share price return. The 1 year total shareholder return is very large, suggesting strong momentum despite some shorter term pullbacks.

After a 93.34% gain this year and a very large 1-year total return, FormFactor now trades at a very different price than it did just months ago. Is it worth paying more today, or is it better to wait for a calmer entry point as valuation is examined next?
Most Popular Narrative: 17.4% Undervalued
FormFactor's most followed narrative pegs fair value at about $138.63 per share, compared with the latest close of $114.44. This implies a meaningful valuation gap based on that framework.
Strategic investments in new manufacturing capacity (Farmers Branch, Texas) and vertical integration via organic substrate partnerships aim to expand production, lower long-term operating costs, and leverage financial/regulatory incentives. This is expected to enable margin expansion and improved profitability as AI and advanced packaging demand intensifies. (Impacts: Gross margins, net margins)
Want to see what sits behind that margin story for FormFactor? The narrative focuses on faster revenue growth, sharply higher profitability, and a different earnings multiple profile than today.
Result: Fair Value of $138.63 (UNDERVALUED)

However, there are clear pressure points for the FormFactor narrative, including customer concentration in DRAM and HBM, as well as ongoing margin headwinds from tariffs and higher operating costs.

Another View on FormFactor's Valuation Using Earnings Multiples
The DCF and narrative work suggest FormFactor is trading below fair value. The P/E picture is less forgiving. At 77.4x, the stock sits above the US Semiconductor industry on 52.9x and above the fair ratio of 50.2x, even though it is below peer average at 85.8x. That gap hints at valuation risk if sentiment cools.

As someone who has dealt directly with them as a CTO for a credit union, I have 8 years of horror stories about doing business with them. If there was any other competitor than could deliver 80% of Fiserv services, there would be a mad rush to migrate to them. They should thank their lucky stars they are a near monopoly. this industry is so ripe for a well funded competitor. Their integration of technology is awful, their ability to fix their own implementation screwups is sadly tragic. Sometimes they just silently kill support tickets without resolution and you never find out until you do a follow up inquiry. Why, because sometimes no one you are dealing with knows how to fix it and knows no one to ask for help. They can not meet their own implementation deadlines and sometimes there is no one on a technical team dealing with you that has any banking or credit union experience. The is an industry insider phrase when you meet other Fiserv customers called being "Fiserved". It means telling others of your worst stories of dealing with them. Ask around, all CTO's have some doozies.
