Insider Buyers At CVD Equipment Likely Disappointed With 13% Slide
The recent 13% drop in CVD Equipment Corporation's (NASDAQ:CVV) stock could come as a blow to insiders who purchased US$1.08m worth of stock at an average buy price of US$4.98 over the past 12 months. Insiders purchase with the hope of seeing their investments increase in value over time. However, due to recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth US$704.9k, which is not great.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At CVD Equipment
The Independent Director Andrew Africk made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$1.1m worth of shares at a price of US$5.07 each. So it's clear an insider wanted to buy, even at a higher price than the current share price (being US$3.24). It's very possible they regret the purchase, but it's more likely they are bullish about the company. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. It is encouraging to see an insider paid above the current price for shares, as it suggests they saw value, even at higher levels. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Andrew Africk.
