Quite a few insiders have dramatically grown their holdings in Beyond, Inc. (NYSE:BYON) over the past 12 months. An insider's optimism about the company's prospects is a positive sign.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

Beyond Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Executive Chairman Marcus Lemonis made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$1m worth of shares at a price of US$6.37 each. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of US$7.64. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.

Over the last year, we can see that insiders have bought 296.46k shares worth US$2.4m. But they sold 10.41k shares for US$97k. In total, Beyond insiders bought more than they sold over the last year. Their average price was about US$8.05. I'd consider this a positive as it suggests insiders see value at around the current price. Does Beyond Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. Beyond insiders own about US$11m worth of shares. That equates to 3.2% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
