Possible Bearish Signals With CareDx Insiders Disposing Stock
Over the past year, many CareDx, Inc (NASDAQ:CDNA) insiders sold a significant stake in the company which may have piqued investors' interest. When analyzing insider transactions, it is usually more valuable to know whether insiders are buying versus knowing if they are selling, as the latter sends an ambiguous message. However, when multiple insiders sell stock over a specific duration, shareholders should take notice as that could possibly be a red flag.
While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At CareDx
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the insider, Alexander Johnson, for US$1.1m worth of shares, at about US$33.83 per share. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$25.64). So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.
In the last year CareDx insiders didn't buy any company stock. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. If you want to know exactly who sold, for how much, and when, simply click on the graph below!

Does CareDx Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. It appears that CareDx insiders own 2.5% of the company, worth about US$33m. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.
So What Do The CareDx Insider Transactions Indicate?
It doesn't really mean much that no insider has traded CareDx shares in the last quarter. We don't take much encouragement from the transactions by CareDx insiders. The modest level of insider ownership is, at least, some comfort. Therefore, you should definitely take a look at this FREE report showing analyst forecasts for CareDx.
