Mativ Holdings Insider Buyers Net US$371k Despite 12% Stock Decline
Insiders who purchased Mativ Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:MATV) shares in the past 12 months are unlikely to be deeply impacted by the stock's 12% decline over the past week. Reason being, despite the recent loss, insiders original purchase value of US$439.3k is now worth US$810.6k.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.
Mativ Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by President Shruti Singhal for US$230k worth of shares, at about US$5.76 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$11.18. Because the shares were purchased at a lower price, this particular buy doesn't tell us much about how insiders feel about the current share price.

Insider Ownership Of Mativ Holdings
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Mativ Holdings insiders own about US$17m worth of shares. That equates to 2.8% of the company. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
