Herbalife: The Battleground Stock Is Showing Some Turnaround Potential

Summary Herbalife still operates in 95 countries using a direct selling and MLM model with six million independent distributors. Currently, HLF is facing declining sales volumes, which have been partly offset by price increases. However, it remains uncertain how sustainable this is in the long run. Post-FTC settlement, I think HLF has “sanitized” its business model, even though it has indeed made it more challenging to grow its MLM business. The good news is its focus. They have a mixed regional performance, in particular with China struggling while Asia Pacific stabilizes. Additionally, its recruitment and sales leaders numbers have been encouraging in Q4 and 2024. Based on EV/EBITDA metrics, HLF is undeniably still priced at a steep discount. However, at this point, I believe the risk-reward equation is more favorable for the bulls. Hence, I rate it a speculative “Buy” for the short term. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha

Herbalife: Down In The Dumps, But Maybe Worth Exploring

Summary Herbalife (HLF) which offers health and wellness products across the globe has underperformed other small-caps and consumer staple stocks, while witnessing almost a 50% contraction in price over the past year. The new Chief Strategy Officer has helped revive new distributor growth after years of decline, but sales growth remains stagnant, and the outlook on the topline doesn't look too alluring. While the topline is not at full tilt, HLF's restructuring efforts are leading to a great deal of savings ($130m of aggregate savings through 2025) resulting in decent EBITDA growth. The stock is attractively priced at 4x EBITDA and an FCF yield of 27%. HLF is yet to show signs of bottom formation, although the risk-reward equation within its long-term descending channel looks favorable. Read the full article on Seeking Alpha
