Investors Still Aren't Entirely Convinced By LifeMD, Inc.'s (NASDAQ:LFMD) Revenues Despite 38% Price Jump
Those holding LifeMD, Inc. (NASDAQ:LFMD) shares would be relieved that the share price has rebounded 38% in the last thirty days, but it needs to keep going to repair the recent damage it has caused to investor portfolios. Not all shareholders will be feeling jubilant, since the share price is still down a very disappointing 48% in the last twelve months.
Even after such a large jump in price, LifeMD may still look like a strong buying opportunity at present with its price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.4x, considering almost half of all companies in the Healthcare Services industry in the United States have P/S ratios greater than 2.6x and even P/S higher than 6x aren't out of the ordinary. Nonetheless, we'd need to dig a little deeper to determine if there is a rational basis for the highly reduced P/S.

How LifeMD Has Been Performing
Recent times have been advantageous for LifeMD as its revenues have been rising faster than most other companies. It might be that many expect the strong revenue performance to degrade substantially, which has repressed the share price, and thus the P/S ratio. If the company manages to stay the course, then investors should be rewarded with a share price that matches its revenue figures.

There's an inherent assumption that a company should far underperform the industry for P/S ratios like LifeMD's to be considered reasonable.
Retrospectively, the last year delivered an exceptional 28% gain to the company's top line. This great performance means it was also able to deliver immense revenue growth over the last three years. Therefore, it's fair to say the revenue growth recently has been superb for the company.
Shifting to the future, estimates from the only analyst covering the company suggest revenue should grow by 22% over the next year. With the industry only predicted to deliver 12%, the company is positioned for a stronger revenue result.
With this in consideration, we find it intriguing that LifeMD's P/S sits behind most of its industry peers. Apparently some shareholders are doubtful of the forecasts and have been accepting significantly lower selling prices.
The Bottom Line On LifeMD's P/S
LifeMD's recent share price jump still sees fails to bring its P/S alongside the industry median. Using the price-to-sales ratio alone to determine if you should sell your stock isn't sensible, however it can be a practical guide to the company's future prospects.
To us, it seems LifeMD currently trades on a significantly depressed P/S given its forecasted revenue growth is higher than the rest of its industry. When we see strong growth forecasts like this, we can only assume potential risks are what might be placing significant pressure on the P/S ratio. At least price risks look to be very low, but investors seem to think future revenues could see a lot of volatility.
