Capital Investment Trends At InMode (NASDAQ:INMD) Look Strong
What trends should we look for it we want to identify stocks that can multiply in value over the long term? In a perfect world, we'd like to see a company investing more capital into its business and ideally the returns earned from that capital are also increasing. Basically this means that a company has profitable initiatives that it can continue to reinvest in, which is a trait of a compounding machine. Ergo, when we looked at the ROCE trends at InMode (NASDAQ:INMD), we liked what we saw.
What Is Return On Capital Employed (ROCE)?
If you haven't worked with ROCE before, it measures the 'return' (pre-tax profit) a company generates from capital employed in its business. Analysts use this formula to calculate it for InMode:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.35 = US$198m ÷ (US$644m - US$82m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to December 2022).
Thus, InMode has an ROCE of 35%. That's a fantastic return and not only that, it outpaces the average of 9.9% earned by companies in a similar industry.

What Does the ROCE Trend For InMode Tell Us?
It's hard not to be impressed by InMode's returns on capital. The company has consistently earned 35% for the last five years, and the capital employed within the business has risen 2,064% in that time. Returns like this are the envy of most businesses and given it has repeatedly reinvested at these rates, that's even better. If these trends can continue, it wouldn't surprise us if the company became a multi-bagger.
One more thing to note, even though ROCE has remained relatively flat over the last five years, the reduction in current liabilities to 13% of total assets, is good to see from a business owner's perspective. Effectively suppliers now fund less of the business, which can lower some elements of risk.
The Bottom Line
In short, we'd argue InMode has the makings of a multi-bagger since its been able to compound its capital at very profitable rates of return. And long term investors would be thrilled with the 202% return they've received over the last three years. So while the positive underlying trends may be accounted for by investors, we still think this stock is worth looking into further.
