Paysafe Limited (NYSE:PSFE) Stock Rockets 29% But Many Are Still Ignoring The Company
Paysafe Limited (NYSE:PSFE) shares have had a really impressive month, gaining 29% after a shaky period beforehand. Unfortunately, the gains of the last month did little to right the losses of the last year with the stock still down 32% over that time.
Although its price has surged higher, Paysafe's price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 0.5x might still make it look like a strong buy right now compared to the wider Diversified Financial industry in the United States, where around half of the companies have P/S ratios above 2.9x and even P/S above 5x are quite common. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/S at face value as there may be an explanation why it's so limited.

What Does Paysafe's P/S Mean For Shareholders?
With revenue growth that's inferior to most other companies of late, Paysafe has been relatively sluggish. It seems that many are expecting the uninspiring revenue performance to persist, which has repressed the growth of the P/S ratio. If you still like the company, you'd be hoping revenue doesn't get any worse and that you could pick up some stock while it's out of favour.

In order to justify its P/S ratio, Paysafe would need to produce anemic growth that's substantially trailing the industry.
Taking a look back first, we see that there was hardly any revenue growth to speak of for the company over the past year. Regardless, revenue has managed to lift by a handy 14% in aggregate from three years ago, thanks to the earlier period of growth. Therefore, it's fair to say that revenue growth has been inconsistent recently for the company.
Shifting to the future, estimates from the six analysts covering the company suggest revenue should grow by 6.5% over the next year. With the industry predicted to deliver 5.3% growth , the company is positioned for a comparable revenue result.
In light of this, it's peculiar that Paysafe's P/S sits below the majority of other companies. It may be that most investors are not convinced the company can achieve future growth expectations.
The Final Word
Even after such a strong price move, Paysafe's P/S still trails the rest of the industry. We'd say the price-to-sales ratio's power isn't primarily as a valuation instrument but rather to gauge current investor sentiment and future expectations.
It looks to us like the P/S figures for Paysafe remain low despite growth that is expected to be in line with other companies in the industry. The low P/S could be an indication that the revenue growth estimates are being questioned by the market. It appears some are indeed anticipating revenue instability, because these conditions should normally provide more support to the share price.
