CACI International Insiders Sell US$12m Of Stock, Possibly Signalling Caution
In the last year, many CACI International Inc (NYSE:CACI) insiders sold a substantial stake in the company which may have sparked shareholders' attention. Knowing whether insiders are buying is usually more helpful when evaluating insider transactions, as insider selling can have various explanations. However, when multiple insiders sell stock over a specific duration, shareholders should take notice as that could possibly be a red flag.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

CACI International Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the insider, Gregory Bradford, for US$4.9m worth of shares, at about US$495 per share. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. The silver lining is that this sell-down took place above the latest price (US$410). So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.

CACI International Insiders Are Selling The Stock
The last three months saw significant insider selling at CACI International. In total, insider Gregory Bradford sold US$4.9m worth of shares in that time, and we didn't record any purchases whatsoever. This may suggest that some insiders think that the shares are not cheap.
Insider Ownership Of CACI International
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. CACI International insiders own about US$104m worth of shares (which is 1.1% of the company). I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About CACI International Insiders?
An insider hasn't bought CACI International stock in the last three months, but there was some selling. And even if we look at the last year, we didn't see any purchases. But since CACI International is profitable and growing, we're not too worried by this. The company boasts high insider ownership, but we're a little hesitant, given the history of share sales. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision.
