Usually, when one insider buys stock, it might not be a monumental event. But when multiple insiders are buying like they did in the case of BGSF, Inc. (NYSE:BGSF), that sends out a positive message to the company's shareholders.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

BGSF Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

The Independent Director C. Allen made the biggest insider purchase in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for US$76k worth of shares at a price of US$6.65 each. That implies that an insider found the current price of US$6.85 per share to be enticing. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.

BGSF insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. So What Does This Data Suggest About BGSF Insiders?

The fact that there have been no BGSF insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. However, our analysis of transactions over the last year is heartening. The transactions are fine but it'd be more encouraging if BGSF insiders bought more shares in the company. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision.
