Whilst it may not be a huge deal, we thought it was good to see that Tina Nutter, who is a company insider, recently bought US$51k worth of stock, for US$32.61 per share. Although the purchase is not a big one, by either a percentage standpoint or absolute value, it can be seen as a good sign.

Premier Financial Insider Transactions Over The Last Year
In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when CFO & Executive VP Paul Nungester bought US$273k worth of shares at a price of US$18.23 per share. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of US$34.13. Because it occurred at a lower valuation, it doesn't tell us much about whether insiders might find today's price attractive.
Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid US$640k for 33.55k shares. But they sold 4.60k shares for US$105k. In the last twelve months there was more buying than selling by Premier Financial insiders. Does Premier Financial Boast High Insider Ownership?
Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. It appears that Premier Financial insiders own 1.9% of the company, worth about US$24m. This level of insider ownership is good but just short of being particularly stand-out. It certainly does suggest a reasonable degree of alignment.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Premier Financial Insiders?
Our data shows a little more insider selling than buying in the last three months. But the net divestment is not enough to concern us at all. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging. Insiders own shares in Premier Financial and we see no evidence to suggest they are worried about the future. So these insider transactions can help us build a thesis about the stock, but it's also worthwhile knowing the risks facing this company.
