We Like RVRC Holding's (STO:RVRC) Returns And Here's How They're Trending

To find a multi-bagger stock, what are the underlying trends we should look for in a business? One common approach is to try and find a company with returns on capital employed (ROCE) that are increasing, in conjunction with a growing amount of capital employed. Ultimately, this demonstrates that it's a business that is reinvesting profits at increasing rates of return. So when we looked at the ROCE trend of RVRC Holding (STO:RVRC) we really liked what we saw.

What Is Return On Capital Employed (ROCE)?

For those who don't know, ROCE is a measure of a company's yearly pre-tax profit (its return), relative to the capital employed in the business. Analysts use this formula to calculate it for RVRC Holding:

Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)

0.26 = kr309m ÷ (kr1.4b - kr253m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to June 2023).

Thus, RVRC Holding has an ROCE of 26%. In absolute terms that's a great return and it's even better than the Specialty Retail industry average of 8.9%.

What Does the ROCE Trend For RVRC Holding Tell Us?

RVRC Holding is displaying some positive trends. Over the last five years, returns on capital employed have risen substantially to 26%. Basically the business is earning more per dollar of capital invested and in addition to that, 43% more capital is being employed now too. The increasing returns on a growing amount of capital is common amongst multi-baggers and that's why we're impressed.

For the record though, there was a noticeable increase in the company's current liabilities over the period, so we would attribute some of the ROCE growth to that. Effectively this means that suppliers or short-term creditors are now funding 18% of the business, which is more than it was five years ago. Keep an eye out for future increases because when the ratio of current liabilities to total assets gets particularly high, this can introduce some new risks for the business.

The Key Takeaway

All in all, it's terrific to see that RVRC Holding is reaping the rewards from prior investments and is growing its capital base. And with a respectable 53% awarded to those who held the stock over the last year, you could argue that these developments are starting to get the attention they deserve. In light of that, we think it's worth looking further into this stock because if RVRC Holding can keep these trends up, it could have a bright future ahead.
