We wouldn't blame Vestum AB (publ) (STO:VESTUM) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Per-Arne Ahlgren, the Independent Director recently netted about kr6.9m selling shares at an average price of kr11.48. However, that sale only accounted for 2.5% of their holding, so arguably it doesn't say much about their conviction.

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Founder & Chairman Conny Ryk bought kr19m worth of shares at a price of kr9.30 per share. Although we like to see insider buying, we note that this large purchase was at significantly below the recent price of kr11.06. Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Vestum insiders own 46% of the company, currently worth about kr1.9b based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
