Insiders were net sellers of Skandia GreenPower AS' (OB:SKAND ) stock during the past year. That is, insiders sold more stock than they bought.
Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Skandia GreenPower
The CEO & Director, Tommie Rudi, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for kr2.2m worth of shares at a price of kr1.10 each. So we know that an insider sold shares at around the present share price of kr1.06. We generally don't like to see insider selling, but the lower the sale price, the more it concerns us. In this case, the big sale took place at around the current price, so it's not too bad (but it's still not a positive). Tommie Rudi was the only individual insider to sell shares in the last twelve months.
Happily, we note that in the last year insiders paid kr1.1m for 1.81m shares. But they sold 2.33m shares for kr2.6m. Tommie Rudi ditched 2.33m shares over the year. The average price per share was kr1.12. The chart below shows insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year. On the flip side, insiders spent kr433k on purchasing shares. The share price has moved a bit recently, but it's hard to argue that the selling is a positive.
Insider Ownership
I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. It's great to see that Skandia GreenPower insiders own 81% of the company, worth about kr67m. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
So What Does This Data Suggest About Skandia GreenPower Insiders?
The insider sales have outweighed the insider buying, at Skandia GreenPower, in the last three months. And our longer term analysis of insider transactions didn't bring confidence, either. It is good to see high insider ownership, but the insider selling leaves us cautious. While it's good to be aware of what's going on with the insider's ownership and transactions, we make sure to also consider what risks are facing a stock before making any investment decision.
