Risks Still Elevated At These Prices As meerecompany Incorporated (KOSDAQ:049950) Shares Dive 25%
Unfortunately for some shareholders, the meerecompany Incorporated (KOSDAQ:049950) share price has dived 25% in the last thirty days, prolonging recent pain. The recent drop completes a disastrous twelve months for shareholders, who are sitting on a 56% loss during that time.
In spite of the heavy fall in price, there still wouldn't be many who think meerecompany's price-to-sales (or "P/S") ratio of 1.8x is worth a mention when the median P/S in Korea's Semiconductor industry is similar at about 1.5x. Although, it's not wise to simply ignore the P/S without explanation as investors may be disregarding a distinct opportunity or a costly mistake.

What Does meerecompany's Recent Performance Look Like?
For instance, meerecompany's receding revenue in recent times would have to be some food for thought. One possibility is that the P/S is moderate because investors think the company might still do enough to be in line with the broader industry in the near future. If you like the company, you'd at least be hoping this is the case so that you could potentially pick up some stock while it's not quite in favour.
We don't have analyst forecasts, but you can see how recent trends are setting up the company for the future by checking out our free report on meerecompany's earnings, revenue and cash flow.Do Revenue Forecasts Match The P/S Ratio?
The only time you'd be comfortable seeing a P/S like meerecompany's is when the company's growth is tracking the industry closely.
Retrospectively, the last year delivered a frustrating 43% decrease to the company's top line. That put a dampener on the good run it was having over the longer-term as its three-year revenue growth is still a noteworthy 14% in total. Although it's been a bumpy ride, it's still fair to say the revenue growth recently has been mostly respectable for the company.
Comparing the recent medium-term revenue trends against the industry's one-year growth forecast of 87% shows it's noticeably less attractive.
With this in mind, we find it intriguing that meerecompany's P/S is comparable to that of its industry peers. Apparently many investors in the company are less bearish than recent times would indicate and aren't willing to let go of their stock right now. They may be setting themselves up for future disappointment if the P/S falls to levels more in line with recent growth rates.
What Does meerecompany's P/S Mean For Investors?
meerecompany's plummeting stock price has brought its P/S back to a similar region as the rest of the industry. We'd say the price-to-sales ratio's power isn't primarily as a valuation instrument but rather to gauge current investor sentiment and future expectations.
We've established that meerecompany's average P/S is a bit surprising since its recent three-year growth is lower than the wider industry forecast. Right now we are uncomfortable with the P/S as this revenue performance isn't likely to support a more positive sentiment for long. Unless there is a significant improvement in the company's medium-term performance, it will be difficult to prevent the P/S ratio from declining to a more reasonable level.
The company's balance sheet is another key area for risk analysis. Take a look at our free balance sheet analysis for meerecompany with six simple checks on some of these key factors.
Of course, profitable companies with a history of great earnings growth are generally safer bets. So you may wish to see this free collection of other companies that have reasonable P/E ratios and have grown earnings strongly.
