Is Now The Time To Put LEADCORP (KOSDAQ:012700) On Your Watchlist?
For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it completely lacks a track record of revenue and profit. But as Warren Buffett has mused, 'If you've been playing poker for half an hour and you still don't know who the patsy is, you're the patsy.' When they buy such story stocks, investors are all too often the patsy.
In the age of tech-stock blue-sky investing, my choice may seem old fashioned; I still prefer profitable companies like LEADCORP (KOSDAQ:012700). While that doesn't make the shares worth buying at any price, you can't deny that successful capitalism requires profit, eventually. While a well funded company may sustain losses for years, unless its owners have an endless appetite for subsidizing the customer, it will need to generate a profit eventually, or else breathe its last breath.

LEADCORP's Earnings Per Share Are Growing.
If a company can keep growing earnings per share (EPS) long enough, its share price will eventually follow. It's no surprise, then, that I like to invest in companies with EPS growth. Over the last three years, LEADCORP has grown EPS by 11% per year. That's a good rate of growth, if it can be sustained.
Careful consideration of revenue growth and earnings before interest and taxation (EBIT) margins can help inform a view on the sustainability of the recent profit growth. I note that LEADCORP's revenue from operations was lower than its revenue in the last twelve months, so that could distort my analysis of its margins. Unfortunately, LEADCORP's revenue dropped 28% last year, but the silver lining is that EBIT margins improved from 18% to 23%. That's not ideal.

LEADCORP isn't a huge company, given its market capitalization of ₩170b. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.
Are LEADCORP Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
It makes me feel more secure owning shares in a company if insiders also own shares, thusly more closely aligning our interests. As a result, I'm encouraged by the fact that insiders own LEADCORP shares worth a considerable sum. Indeed, they hold ₩27b worth of its stock. That's a lot of money, and no small incentive to work hard. Those holdings account for over 16% of the company; visible skin in the game.
Should You Add LEADCORP To Your Watchlist?
One positive for LEADCORP is that it is growing EPS. That's nice to see. If that's not enough on its own, there is also the rather notable levels of insider ownership. That combination appeals to me, for one. So yes, I do think the stock is worth keeping an eye on. Still, you should learn about the 1 warning sign we've spotted with LEADCORP .
