The Livero Inc. (TSE:9245) share price has done very well over the last month, posting an excellent gain of 26%. Looking back a bit further, it's encouraging to see the stock is up 60% in the last year.

Following the firm bounce in price, you could be forgiven for thinking Livero is a stock not worth researching with a price-to-sales ratios (or "P/S") of 2.5x, considering almost half the companies in Japan's Professional Services industry have P/S ratios below 0.9x. Although, it's not wise to just take the P/S at face value as there may be an explanation why it's as high as it is.

How Livero Has Been Performing

With revenue growth that's superior to most other companies of late, Livero has been doing relatively well. The P/S is probably high because investors think this strong revenue performance will continue. You'd really hope so, otherwise you're paying a pretty hefty price for no particular reason.

How Is Livero's Revenue Growth Trending?

There's an inherent assumption that a company should outperform the industry for P/S ratios like Livero's to be considered reasonable.

Taking a look back first, we see that the company grew revenue by an impressive 25% last year. The strong recent performance means it was also able to grow revenue by 45% in total over the last three years. Therefore, it's fair to say the revenue growth recently has been superb for the company.

Turning to the outlook, the next year should generate growth of 23% as estimated by the only analyst watching the company. With the industry only predicted to deliver 6.3%, the company is positioned for a stronger revenue result.

With this information, we can see why Livero is trading at such a high P/S compared to the industry. Apparently shareholders aren't keen to offload something that is potentially eyeing a more prosperous future.

What We Can Learn From Livero's P/S?

Livero's P/S is on the rise since its shares have risen strongly. Typically, we'd caution against reading too much into price-to-sales ratios when settling on investment decisions, though it can reveal plenty about what other market participants think about the company.

Our look into Livero shows that its P/S ratio remains high on the merit of its strong future revenues. At this stage investors feel the potential for a deterioration in revenues is quite remote, justifying the elevated P/S ratio. It's hard to see the share price falling strongly in the near future under these circumstances.

Having said that, be aware Livero is showing 2 warning signs in our investment analysis, and 1 of those shouldn't be ignored.
