Did you know there are some financial metrics that can provide clues of a potential multi-bagger? Typically, we'll want to notice a trend of growing return on capital employed (ROCE) and alongside that, an expanding base of capital employed. Basically this means that a company has profitable initiatives that it can continue to reinvest in, which is a trait of a compounding machine. That's why when we briefly looked at Star7's (BIT:STAR7) ROCE trend, we were pretty happy with what we saw.
Understanding Return On Capital Employed (ROCE)
For those who don't know, ROCE is a measure of a company's yearly pre-tax profit (its return), relative to the capital employed in the business. To calculate this metric for Star7, this is the formula:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.14 = €9.5m ÷ (€110m - €40m) (Based on the trailing twelve months to June 2025).
Thus, Star7 has an ROCE of 14%. On its own, that's a standard return, however it's much better than the 10% generated by the Commercial Services industry.

So How Is Star7's ROCE Trending?
While the returns on capital are good, they haven't moved much. The company has employed 201% more capital in the last five years, and the returns on that capital have remained stable at 14%. 14% is a pretty standard return, and it provides some comfort knowing that Star7 has consistently earned this amount. Stable returns in this ballpark can be unexciting, but if they can be maintained over the long run, they often provide nice rewards to shareholders.
One more thing to note, even though ROCE has remained relatively flat over the last five years, the reduction in current liabilities to 36% of total assets, is good to see from a business owner's perspective. This can eliminate some of the risks inherent in the operations because the business has less outstanding obligations to their suppliers and or short-term creditors than they did previously.
Our Take On Star7's ROCE
The main thing to remember is that Star7 has proven its ability to continually reinvest at respectable rates of return. However, despite the favorable fundamentals, the stock has fallen 21% over the last three years, so there might be an opportunity here for astute investors. That's why we think it'd be worthwhile to look further into this stock given the fundamentals are appealing.
On a final note, we've found 2 warning signs for Star7 that we think you should be aware of.
