Housing and Urban Development's (NSE:HUDCO) earnings growth rate lags the 51% CAGR delivered to shareholders
It might be of some concern to shareholders to see the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (NSE:HUDCO) share price down 23% in the last month. But that doesn't change the fact that the returns over the last half decade have been spectacular. To be precise, the stock price is 469% higher than it was five years ago, a wonderful performance by any measure. So we don't think the recent decline in the share price means its story is a sad one. The most important thing for savvy investors to consider is whether the underlying business can justify the share price gain.

We note that for Housing and Urban Development the TSR over the last 5 years was 692%, which is better than the share price return mentioned above. The dividends paid by the company have thusly boosted the total shareholder return.
