We'd be surprised if Kanani Industries Limited (NSE:KANANIIND) shareholders haven't noticed that the MD & Executive Director, Harshil Kanani, recently sold ₹16m worth of stock at ₹3.26 per share. On the bright side, that sale was only 5.0% of their holding, so we doubt it's very meaningful, on its own.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Kanani Industries

In fact, the recent sale by Harshil Kanani was the biggest sale of Kanani Industries shares made by an insider individual in the last twelve months, according to our records. That means that an insider was selling shares at around the current price of ₹3.07. While we don't usually like to see insider selling, it's more concerning if the sales take place at a lower price. Given that the sale took place at around current prices, it makes us a little cautious but is hardly a major concern.

Kanani Industries insiders own 70% of the company, currently worth about ₹423m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
