Insiders seem to have made the most of their holdings by selling ₹27m worth of Arvind Limited (NSE:ARVIND) stock at an average sell price of ₹278 during the past year. The company's market worth decreased by ₹13b over the past week after the stock price dropped 13%, although insiders were able to minimize their losses

While we would never suggest that investors should base their decisions solely on what the directors of a company have been doing, we do think it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Arvind

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider sale was by the insider, Rupa Shah, for ₹26m worth of shares, at about ₹278 per share. That means that even when the share price was below the current price of ₹312, an insider wanted to cash in some shares. As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. This single sale was 100% of Rupa Shah's stake.

In the last year Arvind insiders didn't buy any company stock. You can see a visual depiction of insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last 12 months, below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Does Arvind Boast High Insider Ownership?

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Our data suggests Arvind insiders own 0.3% of the company, worth about ₹278m. However, it's possible that insiders might have an indirect interest through a more complex structure. I generally like to see higher levels of ownership.
