Sagility's (NSE:SAGILITY) Returns On Capital Are Heading Higher
Did you know there are some financial metrics that can provide clues of a potential multi-bagger? Firstly, we'll want to see a proven return on capital employed (ROCE) that is increasing, and secondly, an expanding base of capital employed. This shows us that it's a compounding machine, able to continually reinvest its earnings back into the business and generate higher returns. With that in mind, we've noticed some promising trends at Sagility (NSE:SAGILITY) so let's look a bit deeper.
Understanding Return On Capital Employed (ROCE)
If you haven't worked with ROCE before, it measures the 'return' (pre-tax profit) a company generates from capital employed in its business. Analysts use this formula to calculate it for Sagility:
Return on Capital Employed = Earnings Before Interest and Tax (EBIT) ÷ (Total Assets - Current Liabilities)
0.10 = ₹11b ÷ (₹115b - ₹12b) (Based on the trailing twelve months to September 2025).
Thus, Sagility has an ROCE of 10%. In absolute terms, that's a pretty normal return, and it's somewhat close to the Professional Services industry average of 12%.

What Can We Tell From Sagility's ROCE Trend?
Sagility's ROCE growth is quite impressive. The figures show that over the last three years, ROCE has grown 316% whilst employing roughly the same amount of capital. Basically the business is generating higher returns from the same amount of capital and that is proof that there are improvements in the company's efficiencies. It's worth looking deeper into this though because while it's great that the business is more efficient, it might also mean that going forward the areas to invest internally for the organic growth are lacking.
The Bottom Line
As discussed above, Sagility appears to be getting more proficient at generating returns since capital employed has remained flat but earnings (before interest and tax) are up. And investors seem to expect more of this going forward, since the stock has rewarded shareholders with a 22% return over the last year. So given the stock has proven it has promising trends, it's worth researching the company further to see if these trends are likely to persist.
While Sagility looks impressive, no company is worth an infinite price. The intrinsic value infographic for SAGILITY helps visualize whether it is currently trading for a fair price.
