Here's Why We Think Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry (HKG:3833) Is Well Worth Watching
For beginners, it can seem like a good idea (and an exciting prospect) to buy a company that tells a good story to investors, even if it completely lacks a track record of revenue and profit. But the reality is that when a company loses money each year, for long enough, its investors will usually take their share of those losses.
In contrast to all that, I prefer to spend time on companies like Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry (HKG:3833), which has not only revenues, but also profits. Now, I'm not saying that the stock is necessarily undervalued today; but I can't shake an appreciation for the profitability of the business itself. Loss-making companies are always racing against time to reach financial sustainability, but time is often a friend of the profitable company, especially if it is growing.

Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry's Improving Profits
In a capitalist society capital chases profits, and that means share prices tend rise with earnings per share (EPS). So like the hint of a smile on a face that I love, growing EPS generally makes me look twice. You can imagine, then, that it almost knocked my socks off when I realized that Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry grew its EPS from CN¥0.011 to CN¥0.20, in one short year. When you see earnings grow that quickly, it often means good things ahead for the company. But the key is discerning whether something profound has changed, or if this is a just a one-off boost.
One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. Not all of Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry's revenue this year is revenue from operations, so keep in mind the revenue and margin numbers I've used might not be the best representation of the underlying business. The good news is that Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry is growing revenues, and EBIT margins improved by 17.4 percentage points to 23%, over the last year. Ticking those two boxes is a good sign of growth, in my book.

While profitability drives the upside, prudent investors always check the balance sheet, too.
Are Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?
I like company leaders to have some skin in the game, so to speak, because it increases alignment of incentives between the people running the business, and its true owners. So it is good to see that Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry insiders have a significant amount of capital invested in the stock. Indeed, they hold CN¥385m worth of its stock. That shows significant buy-in, and may indicate conviction in the business strategy. Those holdings account for over 13% of the company; visible skin in the game.
It means a lot to see insiders invested in the business, but I find myself wondering if remuneration policies are shareholder friendly. Well, based on the CEO pay, I'd say they are indeed. For companies with market capitalizations between CN¥1.3b and CN¥5.1b, like Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry, the median CEO pay is around CN¥2.3m.
The Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry CEO received total compensation of just CN¥484k in the year to . That looks like modest pay to me, and may hint at a certain respect for the interests of shareholders. While the level of CEO compensation isn't a huge factor in my view of the company, modest remuneration is a positive, because it suggests that the board keeps shareholder interests in mind. I'd also argue reasonable pay levels attest to good decision making more generally.
Should You Add Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry To Your Watchlist?
Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry's earnings have taken off like any random crypto-currency did, back in 2017. The cherry on top is that insiders own a bucket-load of shares, and the CEO pay seems really quite reasonable. The strong EPS improvement suggests the businesses is humming along. Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry certainly ticks a few of my boxes, so I think it's probably well worth further consideration. You still need to take note of risks, for example - Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry has 1 warning sign we think you should be aware of.
Although Xinjiang Xinxin Mining Industry certainly looks good to me, I would like it more if insiders were buying up shares. If you like to see insider buying, too, then this free list of growing companies that insiders are buying, could be exactly what you're looking for.
