The Bango (LON:BGO) Share Price Is Up 86% And Shareholders Are Holding On
When we invest, we're generally looking for stocks that outperform the market average. And while active stock picking involves risks (and requires diversification) it can also provide excess returns. For example, long term Bango plc (LON:BGO) shareholders have enjoyed a 86% share price rise over the last half decade, well in excess of the market decline of around 3.1% (not including dividends). However, more recent returns haven't been as impressive as that, with the stock returning just 39% in the last year.

Bango wasn't profitable in the last twelve months, it is unlikely we'll see a strong correlation between its share price and its earnings per share (EPS). Arguably revenue is our next best option. Shareholders of unprofitable companies usually expect strong revenue growth. That's because fast revenue growth can be easily extrapolated to forecast profits, often of considerable size.
For the last half decade, Bango can boast revenue growth at a rate of 37% per year. Even measured against other revenue-focussed companies, that's a good result. It's good to see that the stock has 13%, but not entirely surprising given revenue shows strong growth. If the strong revenue growth continues, we'd expect the share price to follow, in time. Of course, you'll have to research the business more fully to figure out if this is an attractive opportunity.

We like that insiders have been buying shares in the last twelve months. Having said that, most people consider earnings and revenue growth trends to be a more meaningful guide to the business. This free report showing analyst forecasts should help you form a view on Bango
A Different Perspective
It's nice to see that Bango shareholders have received a total shareholder return of 39% over the last year. That gain is better than the annual TSR over five years, which is 13%. Therefore it seems like sentiment around the company has been positive lately. Given the share price momentum remains strong, it might be worth taking a closer look at the stock, lest you miss an opportunity. I find it very interesting to look at share price over the long term as a proxy for business performance. But to truly gain insight, we need to consider other information, too.
