Little Excitement Around SIG plc's (LON:SHI) Revenues

How SIG Has Been Performing

With revenue growth that's inferior to most other companies of late, SIG has been relatively sluggish. It seems that many are expecting the uninspiring revenue performance to persist, which has repressed the growth of the P/S ratio. If you still like the company, you'd be hoping revenue doesn't get any worse and that you could pick up some stock while it's out of favour.

Is There Any Revenue Growth Forecasted For SIG?

SIG's P/S ratio would be typical for a company that's only expected to deliver limited growth, and importantly, perform worse than the industry.

Taking a look back first, we see that there was hardly any revenue growth to speak of for the company over the past year. However, a few strong years before that means that it was still able to grow revenue by an impressive 47% in total over the last three years. Accordingly, shareholders will be pleased, but also have some questions to ponder about the last 12 months.

Shifting to the future, estimates from the eight analysts covering the company suggest revenue should grow by 0.8% each year over the next three years. That's shaping up to be materially lower than the 5.7% per annum growth forecast for the broader industry.

With this in consideration, its clear as to why SIG's P/S is falling short industry peers. It seems most investors are expecting to see limited future growth and are only willing to pay a reduced amount for the stock.

While the price-to-sales ratio shouldn't be the defining factor in whether you buy a stock or not, it's quite a capable barometer of revenue expectations.
