Results: China Jushi Co., Ltd. Exceeded Expectations And The Consensus Has Updated Its Estimates
China Jushi Co., Ltd. (SHSE:600176) came out with its quarterly results last week, and we wanted to see how the business is performing and what industry forecasters think of the company following this report. It looks like a credible result overall - although revenues of CN¥3.4b were what the analysts expected, China Jushi surprised by delivering a statutory profit of CN¥0.087 per share, instead of the previously forecast loss. Earnings are an important time for investors, as they can track a company's performance, look at what the analysts are forecasting for next year, and see if there's been a change in sentiment towards the company. So we gathered the latest post-earnings forecasts to see what estimates suggest is in store for next year.
View our latest analysis for China Jushi
Following the latest results, China Jushi's 17 analysts are now forecasting revenues of CN¥16.7b in 2024. This would be a notable 14% improvement in revenue compared to the last 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are predicted to increase 4.7% to CN¥0.65. Before this earnings report, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of CN¥16.4b and earnings per share (EPS) of CN¥0.64 in 2024. So it's pretty clear that, although the analysts have updated their estimates, there's been no major change in expectations for the business following the latest results.
The analysts reconfirmed their price target of CN¥11.66, showing that the business is executing well and in line with expectations. That's not the only conclusion we can draw from this data however, as some investors also like to consider the spread in estimates when evaluating analyst price targets. There are some variant perceptions on China Jushi, with the most bullish analyst valuing it at CN¥13.60 and the most bearish at CN¥8.35 per share. As you can see, analysts are not all in agreement on the stock's future, but the range of estimates is still reasonably narrow, which could suggest that the outcome is not totally unpredictable.
Taking a look at the bigger picture now, one of the ways we can understand these forecasts is to see how they compare to both past performance and industry growth estimates. The analysts are definitely expecting China Jushi's growth to accelerate, with the forecast 19% annualised growth to the end of 2024 ranking favourably alongside historical growth of 13% per annum over the past five years. Compare this with other companies in the same industry, which are forecast to grow their revenue 8.3% annually. It seems obvious that, while the growth outlook is brighter than the recent past, the analysts also expect China Jushi to grow faster than the wider industry.
The Bottom Line
The most obvious conclusion is that there's been no major change in the business' prospects in recent times, with the analysts holding their earnings forecasts steady, in line with previous estimates. Fortunately, they also reconfirmed their revenue numbers, suggesting that it's tracking in line with expectations. Additionally, our data suggests that revenue is expected to grow faster than the wider industry. The consensus price target held steady at CN¥11.66, with the latest estimates not enough to have an impact on their price targets.
Following on from that line of thought, we think that the long-term prospects of the business are much more relevant than next year's earnings. We have estimates - from multiple China Jushi analysts - going out to 2026, and you can see them free on our platform here.
We don't want to rain on the parade too much, but we did also find 3 warning signs for China Jushi that you need to be mindful of.
