Insiders who acquired CA$424.4k worth of Ostrom Climate Solutions Inc.'s (CVE:COO) stock at an average price of CA$0.054 in the past 12 months may be dismayed by the recent 20% price decline. Insiders invest with the hopes of seeing their money grow in value over time. However, as a result of recent losses, their initial investment is now only worth CA$312.0k, which is not what they expected.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

Ostrom Climate Solutions Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Chairman of the Board of Directors Navdeep Dhaliwal for CA$264k worth of shares, at about CA$0.05 per share. That means that even when the share price was higher than CA$0.04 (the recent price), an insider wanted to purchase shares. Their view may have changed since then, but at least it shows they felt optimistic at the time. To us, it's very important to consider the price insiders pay for shares. As a general rule, we feel more positive about a stock if insiders have bought shares at above current prices, because that suggests they viewed the stock as good value, even at a higher price.
